Team News

Man City
Borussia Dortmund
  • Once again, Pep Guardiola has a fully fit squad to select from ahead of their welcome of Borussia Dortmund.
  • The City boss made a number of changes for Saturday's 2-0 win at Leicester and we should see a number of regular starters rotated back in.
  • Joao Cancelo, Raheem Sterling, Phil Foden and Ilkay Gundogan are among those who should return.
  • Marwin Hitz is expected to keep his spot between the sticks, despite Roman Burki's return to fitness.
  • Edin Terzic is without Axel Witsel, Dan-Axel Zagadou, Marcel Schmelzer and former City man Jadon Sancho, while youngster Youssoufa Moukoko will be assessed.
  • Raphael Guerreiro started Saturday's 2-1 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt in central midfield, but is expected to drop back into left-back.

Prediction

  • Manchester City returned to league duties following the international break with a 2-0 win at Leicester to continue their push for domestic glory and as attention turns to the Champions League, they'll be confident of adding to their 26 wins from their last 27 games.
  • That's because Borussia Dortmund are in poor form coming into their trip to the Etihad Stadium. Indeed, the German side have won just one of their last five matches and lost a crunch Bundesliga clash with Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday to leave them seven points off fourth.
  • With Erling Haaland leading the charge, Dortmund are capable of scoring, but City should earn a first leg advantage on Tuesday.

  • Good performance from Dortmund. Would have been 2:2 with a competent referee and Dortmund usually much better at home. Pep's playing-without-#9 tacs huge disappointment

  • Finally KDB as he used to be.

  • Meunier tooks 9mins to help concede the goal...what a player....

  • @nithinbvb Very consistent. Never saw him play for Dortmund without making one

  • @nithinbvb Foden disposed of Morey in the 2nd half, that was reasonable substitution.

  • @nithinbvb worst RB in world

  • @nithinbvb It was 2 v 1. Not fair to blame him for that goal. It was just a ridiculous ball by KDB that exposed the whole defensive line.

  • Phil Foden is some player, but he's no Mason Mount

  • @Chilly_B your right, Foden is better

  • @Steezy206 he's meant to be better at finishing but he missed from 2 yards

  • Tonight was not Man City vs Haaland. It was rather De Bruyne vs Dortmund.

  • @Maarten Foden was better

  • Dortmund will destroy them in return leg

  • @stefanm I don't think so. But it was decent performance. Didn't expect the error from can..and the awful decision by the ref.

  • Come on...that was a ridiculous call by the ref against Jude..

  • Stop expecting impossible from Haaland, he's human. He for example couldn't score from 8 shots against Gibraltar. He won't score every single match

  • @wilde if I had 8 shots against Gibraltar I would've scored at least once

  • @Chilly_B well Haaland didn't

  • @wilde then I am clear of that Norwegian fraud

  • Less than 1 goal

  • @footballover dude it's already 1-0, I know that you always predict 0-0 but please be serious for a moment

  • Both to score.

  • @Finucci i actually did a BTTS bet but now i’m panicking ,’i don’t see any way for dortmund to score, don’t see it happening

  • @Skillz Anything is possible in football until the final whistle my friend.

  • Dortmund actually robbed a goal by the ref what a ridiculous call against bellingham.

  • @Mamix The call is not ridiculous, it is fraudulent. By making the call the ref made a VAR check impossible. The booking is utter mockery.

  • OK, Hategan, shoot yourself!

  • Terzic, get Can TF off the pitch ASAP!

  • 2-0 can't see this being competitive or City raking in tons of goals

  • OK switching to Madrid-Liverpool. Pep's new style of just passing the ball around in order to prevent anything from happening is cancer.

  • @benj some teams like Mourinho's Spurs or Tuchel's Chelsea can be described as boring.... But calling Pep's City boring just shows a lack of patience and/or ball knowledge. If you're really that impatient just watch the direct football of Burnley or Armina Bielefield...

  • @Chilly_B Can you please explain in what way exactly Tuchel's Chelsea are boring?

  • @splint3r a lot of sideways passing without much penetration or creativity, while City only pass sideways when necessary and are always looking to break lines

  • @Chilly_B Could it be because Tuchel has been in charge for a little over 2 months? Give the guy some time to fully implement his philosophy.

  • @splint3r I am not slandering the man he has revolutionised the team but Chelsea games are never exactly end to end attacking dogfights until the last match anyway

  • @Chilly_B They were end to end during Lampard's stint. And we wre losing to small teams regularly. Now we don't concede even against big teams. Which is better?

  • @splint3r definitely Tuchel's style. But we have scored 21 goals in 16 games under Tuchel and neutrals may not find it as entertaining

  • @Chilly_B Who cares about the neutrals? :D

  • @benj Good for you to leave this page. Good for us to get rid of you.

  • Why Knauff ? So many questionmarks about this game.. .City surely have is the favorite but h2h is so doubious...i go for City to get a red

  • Haaland will end City's season, Pep will learn some proper German football tonight.

  • @GioMonaldo You will learn what a proper prediction means tonight.

  • @GioMonaldo Dortmund might have a Haaland, but they don't have a De Bruyne.

  • @Fromhell Man City might have a De Bruyne, but they don't have a Haaland.

  • @CMYGQZ City might have Phil Foden, but he's no Mason Mount

  • Easy win & clean sheet for Man City

  • Both teams to score- NO

  • @ramirrol I think both to score. :)

  • This will be a cryfull game for Dortmund. 4-1.

  • Man City clean sheet - NO

  • betstatdroid has no say today?

  • @Arnold1.5 he only predicts league games

  • pep pls if u r here on this site to see some stats plz don't overthink it , please - hOnESt cItY fAn

  • @tonystarKK he just did...no Sterling or Aguero in first 11

  • @tonystarKK Couldn't agree more! Pep, no surprises on the Team Sheet, please!

  • Both to score.

  • A fully fit City to win this 4-2.

  • 3:1 City

  • Does anyone else find it amazing that at this stage of a congested season, where City are still competing in 4 competitions. They don't have a single player who's injured right now.....

  • @Nico1 4 competitions? the League Cup isn't over yet?

  • @GioMonaldo the final has been ready since November but they keep hyping it up even though nobody cares

  • @Nico1 The most incredible squad depth in world football. Remember when they signed Nathan Ake for like 40 something million? And now Laporte, one of the best centre backs in world football, often sits next to him on the bench as Stones and Dias take the field.

  • @normal_fan99 literally spend 70 million on players to sit on the bench or in reserves

  • 5-0 honestly

  • 2:1
