- Gabriel Martinelli suffered a shin injury in Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at home to Manchester City and is a big doubt for Boxing Day.
- Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has missed Arsenal's last two matches with a calf injury and Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have his captain available here.
- Granit Xhaka is back from suspension but his future is up in the air and he may have to settle for a place on the bench here.
- Tammy Abraham appears to have regained his place in the side after his brace against West Ham on Monday night. Olivier Giroud may have to settle for a bench role against his old club as a result.
- Cesar Azpilicueta may continue at right-back with Chelsea managing a slight knee issue for Reece James. Ben Chilwell rolled his ankle against West Ham and is a doubt as well.
- Given Kai Havertz's recent struggles, Mateo Kovacic or Jorginho are perhaps more likely to start in midfield for Chelsea on Boxing Day.
- Frank Lampard hopes to welcome back Callum Hudson-Odoi from injury on Saturday, but Hakim Ziyech is ruled out.
If this loss leads to the sacking of Lampard, than thanks will be in order for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.
Chelsea needs Ziyech, simple as that.

Smith Rowe needs to be in the lineup every week, he is a breath of fresh air.
Pulisic and Mount were the only good players in this Chelsea side today. Abraham has a good positioning, but he's completely awful with the ball. Needs to grow more muscles to hold on the ball. Jorginho useless as always.
Lampard clown spent 250 mil euros just to get beaten by relegation team, nice.
i give Lampard in best case time till late January, i think they will win vs Villa. Tuchel suits so good with the German/English/French core at Chelsea. Abramovic cant miss on him with his CV.

Werner and Havertz have been very poor signings.Both are struggling with the pace of the EPL.Havertz not yet match fit and has struggled in training.
@Rensen Hm, if only there was a way to find out how different leagues compare to one another. That would certainly be better than anecdotal "evidence". Oh, wait a minute: In the last two seasons, the slow Bundesliga teams are 8 wins to 2 against EPL teams - and no, it's not just Bayern.
@stuckonautomatic It doesn't matter in Havertz's case, he is just not the player some hoped he would be. He is just not a finesse player, player maker or dribbler as some thought he might be for some reason.
