Team News

Arsenal
Chelsea
  • Gabriel Martinelli suffered a shin injury in Tuesday's 4-1 defeat at home to Manchester City and is a big doubt for Boxing Day.
  • Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has missed Arsenal's last two matches with a calf injury and Mikel Arteta will be desperate to have his captain available here.
  • Granit Xhaka is back from suspension but his future is up in the air and he may have to settle for a place on the bench here.
  • Tammy Abraham appears to have regained his place in the side after his brace against West Ham on Monday night. Olivier Giroud may have to settle for a bench role against his old club as a result.
  • Cesar Azpilicueta may continue at right-back with Chelsea managing a slight knee issue for Reece James. Ben Chilwell rolled his ankle against West Ham and is a doubt as well.
  • Given Kai Havertz's recent struggles, Mateo Kovacic or Jorginho are perhaps more likely to start in midfield for Chelsea on Boxing Day.
  • Frank Lampard hopes to welcome back Callum Hudson-Odoi from injury on Saturday, but Hakim Ziyech is ruled out.

Prediction

  • Things are going from bad to worse for Arsenal after Tuesday's 4-1 cup quarter-final exit to Manchester City. There are now concerns Arsenal could be dragged into a relegation dog fight following a run of no wins in seven in the Premier League. They head into the Boxing Day round of fixtures three places and four points above the bottom three.
  • Chelsea ended a two-game losing streak with a 3-0 win over West Ham on Monday, though the performance wasn't great despite the emphatic scoreline. They haven't found the Emirates as comfortable a ground as they have previously but head into Saturday as heavy favourites.

  • If this loss leads to the sacking of Lampard, than thanks will be in order for Arsenal and Mikel Arteta.

  • Chelsea needs Ziyech, simple as that.

  • "Do you belieeeveee, in cross after crossssssss..."

  • Every time it's THAT particular neighbour comes to the rescue

  • Smith Rowe needs to be in the lineup every week, he is a breath of fresh air.

  • Pulisic and Mount were the only good players in this Chelsea side today. Abraham has a good positioning, but he's completely awful with the ball. Needs to grow more muscles to hold on the ball. Jorginho useless as always.

  • Lampard clown spent 250 mil euros just to get beaten by relegation team, nice.

  • i give Lampard in best case time till late January, i think they will win vs Villa. Tuchel suits so good with the German/English/French core at Chelsea. Abramovic cant miss on him with his CV.

  • @koevasd123 why ? Chelsea it's only 3 points from second place

  • @alxdru 4 points

  • @alxdru Yes but some of the teams around them have played 1 or 2 less games.

  • it's amazing how well you can play when the the washed up old clowns are not playing

  • Cross after cross after cross .. can't Chelsea be more creative?

  • Abramovich please go f yourself

  • Every time it's Chelsea come to the rescue

  • Lamps will be under pressure now instead of Arteta.

  • finally Kovacic out..

  • werner isn't what i thought he'd be

  • @NuchalLine What did you think he would be ?

  • Lamplol

  • what a goal by Xhaka ! best goal from free kick this season

  • Werner and Havertz have been very poor signings. Both are struggling with the pace of the EPL.Havertz not yet match fit and has struggled in training.

  • @Rensen Hm, if only there was a way to find out how different leagues compare to one another. That would certainly be better than anecdotal "evidence". Oh, wait a minute: In the last two seasons, the slow Bundesliga teams are 8 wins to 2 against EPL teams - and no, it's not just Bayern.

  • @stuckonautomatic It doesn't matter in Havertz's case, he is just not the player some hoped he would be. He is just not a finesse player, player maker or dribbler as some thought he might be for some reason.

  • @Rensen nothing to do with pace, werner has always missed sitters and havertz is being played out of position

  • @KlaasJanHuntelaar Several ex chelsea players said both are finding the speed of the english game tough.

  • @Rensen werner is running through defenses like its nothing then missing the open chance, stop trying to make it sound like premier league is some kind of impossible league to play in

  • @KlaasJanHuntelaar it's a well known fact that german and russian players reach their peak after a few season in PL . Arsenal should've had patience with Gnabry

  • Arsenal vs Chelsea, duel of the most sucky teams in PL. Seems like Chelsea sucks even a bit more tonight ...

  • @neumi17 Surely Sheffield United are the 'most sucky' team in the PL?

  • I can see a Red card for Arsenal yet again.

  • pulisic to score.

  • First half draw. Chelsea to win

  • @obynomma close

  • Arsnela 0-0 Chelsea

  • Arsenal 3-0 Chelsea

  • @LeoVenancio21 if you get this right, you will go down as a legend

  • @smb26 Does 3-1 count ?

  • @smb26 it was almost, I was even scared

  • Arsenal 1-4 Chelsea

  • @masoudi Maybe 3-1

  • Willian is out of the squad, Ceballos and Pépé are benched, but freaking Xhaka is starting. It's like Arteta wants to get Arsenal relegated

  • 1-3 Chelsea

  • @Rensen For Arsenal.

  • Arteta looks like a weak cucked chump. No passion, no energy about him, just a boring individual with no personality. He needs to be sacked asap and get someone with more excitement for the job. Even bring back Wenger, anyone but this man.

  • @uefalona If that's Arteta, then Lampard is a stick man or something.

  • Martinelli to score a hattrick

  • It is difficult to be Chelsea's goalkeeper, Real M. left FB and Man City's left FB at the same time.

  • 0:15

  • Tuchel to take over at Arsenal.

  • @Rensen I would be shocked if Chelsea don't win 2-0

  • @SeuneMilmas permanent state of shock

  • @SeuneMilmas thanks for posting that ! your voodoo spells have a good hit-rate this season ; )

  • Anything less than a win is unacceptable from a Chelsea perspective

  • 0-6. Giroud with a brace.

  • @What4 3-1

  • Kovacic to score

  • Win for Chelsea

  • A win for Arsenal today would be considered a slight boxing day miracle. Right? But Arteta must be sacked anyhow. 0 - 2

  • I don't care about the result; I just want Arteta to be sacked ASAP!

  • @Zoltan Same here, but with Lampard.

  • Chelsea wins

  • 0-2

  • @eastend1 3-1

  • If Arsenal lose tomorrow then surely Arteta will get the sack ?

  • 1-3 Chelsea

  • @Rensen For Arsenal.

  • Arsenal will surprise Chelsea 2-1 Gooners

  • Both to score.

  • 0-3 Chelsea win

  • Zouma MOTM by heading to Corner kicks. 0-2 FT

  • 0-3 Hatrick by Mr Giroud
